Immersion & Discovery
We started the project by visiting the village and its downtown to experience the community firsthand. BrandFirst met with the town council and local business owners as part of our market research process, conducting interviews to better understand the area’s strengths, challenges, and aspirations for the future. We also partnered with the village to distribute a community questionnaire, gathering valuable local input to help us identify the themes, perceptions, and defining characteristics that would authentically shape the Downtown Port Chester brand.

Strategy & Positioning
Our team evaluated comparable villages throughout the region to pinpoint the qualities that distinguish Downtown Port Chester from its neighbors. Synthesizing these findings with our immersion insights, we developed a strategic framework and presented the client with a comprehensive summary and analysis of the village’s unique characteristics, community perspectives, and branding opportunities. The goal was to position downtown as a vibrant destination for residents, visitors, and entrepreneurs, emphasizing its strong sense of community, cultural diversity, culinary delights, rich history, and accessibility to New York City.
Concept Development
Building on our strategic framework, our designers created a range of logo concepts reflective of Port Chester’s identity. We explored different typefaces, color palettes, graphics, and taglines to identify the strongest visual expression of the village while giving the client multiple ways to tell its story. BrandFirst designed each concept to adapt seamlessly across a variety of media, and we showcased the logos on signage, apparel, and digital mockups to illustrate how the visual identity would translate to real-world applications.
The Solution
The chosen brand identity centered on an interconnecting, wave-like symbol formed from the letters “P” and “C,” capturing Downtown Port Chester’s waterfront setting while representing the connections among residents, businesses, and the broader region. With modern typography and a color palette inspired by the harbor and village seal, the identity introduced ownable, impactful brand assets that created a distinct visual presence for downtown. The new brand fosters greater recognition and community pride while highlighting Port Chester as a vibrant destination with an authentic sense of place.

Brand Guidelines
Supporting consistent implementation of the new downtown brand, we compiled a detailed brand guide outlining proper logo usage and sizing, color palettes, typography, and other core identity elements. The guide included examples of practical branding applications from signage and promotional materials to social and digital platforms to assist Port Chester in establishing a unified, recognizable brand identity across every touch-point.

Social Media Strategy
To help the village connect with the community and raise awareness of its revitalized downtown, BrandFirst also developed a comprehensive social media strategy. We began by auditing the village’s Facebook presence alongside neighboring areas’ social media accounts to evaluate performance and identify opportunities. We then provided recommendations for a cohesive visual approach—including typography, color palette, and photography—as well as guidance on audience targeting, posting frequency, community engagement, and cross-promotion with local businesses. This digital strategy will inform the design and development of the village’s future website.
